Two Weeks Under our Belts!

We made it! The kids have learned so much in 9 days! That's one of the beauties of kindergarten. You can see the growth as it happens! Hopefully, today you had a chance to read the Monkey Business Newsletter (blue paper) as well as an envelope about Deer Creek's first fundraiser of the year, The Jump-a-thon. Your child also came home with his/her first library book! The kids were so excited. Please take a moment to read this with your child. The books are due back by Friday, so we can repeat it all again. Please try to attend Back to School Night on the 26th. This is a great opportunity to explain some important routines and procedures about kindergarten. Thank you!

Welcome!

It was so nice to meet most of you today!  We are going to have such a great year.

If you're on this blog, you'll see that it's a work in progress.  I'm trying it out this year...I hope it works for you!   My plan is to use it to keep you informed of upcoming events and apprised of the exciting things your child is doing in class!  We'll talk more about this at Back to School Night on September 26th.

For now, I want to remind you of a few things:

  • If you ordered supplies and did not pick them up today, you can do so in the office this week or next.
  • DISMISSAL FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL IS 2:00.  After the first week, dismissal will be 2:25.
  • I am working on a volunteer calendar.  Thank you to those of you who signed up to help for the first week of school!  I'll contact you soon.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at:  adeuth@ttsd.k12.or.us

Enjoy your last week of summer!

I like your Blog.  The color scheme is very soothing.   I like your slide show and the font you used.

Your voice has a very calming effect.  I bet the kids love to have you read to them.

Regarding your screencast video. I would go in and change the width on it so it does not bleed over into your right hand column.

Everything else is great.  Not too busy yet stimulating enough to be attractive and to invite kids to look it over.

 Well Done.

Kindergarten Child-cented blog

Angie,
Your blog with the camping theme is so child-centered with the friendly font and clean layout.
These lucky kindergarteners will enjoy looking at your videos and slides.  One suggestion is to reduce the size of your video tutorial as it is overlapping the left side-bar text. Just reducing the width number will take care of this. You mentioned that you plan to use your blog as a parent newsletter and the way that you set up your gadgets lends itself to ease of communication.  Best wishes using this blog to encourage math exploration or beginning sound-symbols representation tips!
Happy Blogging!
Eileen

Review

I like your blog very much. Simple layout and straight forward. I think you are under the same pressures we are all under - to include every gadget required for the class. This can lead to a very busy blog. I think the final product might be more straight forward.
Angie I love your screencast. I wish I could provide you with suggestions, but I am at a loss at what I would say. The color and arrangement is very neat and easy to get around. Nice job.
